APP LEGAL · CALIVIA COOK
Calivia Cook Privacy Policy
Effective date: 8 August 2026 · Calivia Digital Solutions Ltd (RC Number: 9442497)
The short version
The App has no accounts. Your recipes, meal plans, shopping list, and pantry are stored on your own device. Two things leave it: recipe text sent for processing when you use a feature that needs it, and the requests the advertising in the App makes. Sections 3 and 5 describe both in detail.
This Privacy Policy explains what Calivia Cook ("the App") does with information when you use it. It is written to describe the App as it actually works, not as a generic template.
1. Who we are
The App is published by Calivia Digital Solutions Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in Nigeria (RC Number: 9442497). If you have a question about this policy or about your information, contact us at the address in Section 13.
2. What stays on your device
The following is stored only in the App's own storage on your phone. We do not receive it, and it is not backed up to any server we operate:
- Your recipe library, meaning recipes you import, add by hand, or that came with the App, including any edits, notes, ratings, favourites, and cooking history.
- Your meal plan, shopping list, and pantry list.
- Your app settings, including your chosen language and dietary preferences.
- The date you accepted the Terms and this policy on the welcome screen.
The App has no accounts and no sign-in, so there is no name, email address, or password associated with your use of it.
Because this data lives on the device, deleting the App removes it. It is not recoverable by us, and we cannot restore it for you.
3. What leaves your device, and when
Certain features cannot work on the phone alone. Each one sends only what that feature needs, and only at the moment you ask for it:
- Importing a recipe from a link: the web address you provide is sent to our recipe service, which fetches that public page and extracts the recipe from it.
- Importing pasted text: the text you paste is sent to our recipe service to be turned into a structured recipe.
- Nutrition estimates, "Make it healthier", and recipe translation: the relevant recipe's title, ingredient list, and step text are sent to our recipe service so it can produce the estimate, the suggestions, or the translation.
Our recipe service passes that content to OpenAI, which processes it and returns a result. We do not send your name, email address, location, or contacts at any point, because the App holds none of those.
An anonymous install identifier is sent with these requests. It is a random value the App generates the first time it runs, and it exists so we can tell how many recipes a typical install processes in a month, which is how the free monthly allowance for those features is set and reviewed. See Section 6 for what is sold in the App. It is not your device's advertising ID or any built-in hardware identifier, we never read those, and it is not connected to a name, an email address, or an account, because the App has none. It is erased when you uninstall the App or use "Delete my data", which starts a new one.
4. What we do not do
We do not use third-party analytics software in the App. We do not build a profile of you from your recipes, we do not sell or rent information about you to anyone, and we do not share it with data brokers.
We do not know what you cook. Your library, plan, shopping list and pantry never reach us, and nothing in them is used to choose which adverts you see.
We do not listen to you. The App can read cooking steps aloud, which is done by the text-to-speech voice built into your phone: the words go from the App to your device's own speech engine and no further. The App has no microphone permission, records no audio, and has no voice input of any kind. Nothing you say is heard, stored or sent.
We do not ask for or track your location. The App requests no location permission and contains no location tracking of its own. The only location-related information involved is the approximate location Google works out from your IP address in order to show adverts, which is described in Section 5. Where the App links you to shops, it uses the region setting on your device rather than your position, as explained in Section 6.
The App does show advertising, and this is new. Earlier versions of this policy said it did not. Section 5 sets out exactly what that involves, what the advertising provider receives, and how to turn personalised advertising off.
The one thing we count ourselves is described in Section 3: how many recipes each anonymous install processes per month, which is what the free monthly allowance is based on. That is a tally of actions, not a record of what you cooked, and it is not linked to you.
5. Advertising
The App is free to use, and advertising is what pays for it. Adverts are supplied by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited for users in Europe, Google LLC elsewhere). Google is a separate controller of the data it collects through those adverts, and its own privacy policy governs that: policies.google.com/privacy
What Google receives
To serve and measure an advert, Google receives your device's advertising identifier, IP address, device model and operating system, coarse location derived from the IP address, and the fact that an advert was requested, shown, or tapped. It does not receive your recipes, your meal plan, your shopping list, your pantry, or the anonymous install identifier described in Section 3.
Where you see adverts
Occasional cards between recipes in your Library; a full-screen advert at most a few times a day, and never while you are cooking; and adverts you choose to watch in exchange for unlocking one recipe from a premium collection or for another recipe import. That last kind never starts without you tapping a button that says what you get for it.
Consent, and how to change your mind
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you are shown a consent form before any personalised advert loads, and personalised advertising stays off unless you agree to it. You can reopen that form at any time from Profile › Ad privacy choices. Choosing not to consent does not restrict any feature of the App. You simply see non-personalised adverts, which are chosen from context rather than from anything about you.
On iPhone and iPad, Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt applies as well. If you decline it, personalised advertising stays off regardless of any other choice.
Buying anything from Profile › Books & plans removes advertising from the App entirely.
6. Shopping links, sponsors and purchases
Shopping links
Some screens link to retailers: kitchen equipment under a recipe, and grocery delivery under your shopping list. These are affiliate links, so if you buy something after following one, we may be paid a commission by that retailer, at no extra cost to you. They are labelled "Paid links" wherever they appear.
Following such a link opens that retailer in your browser, and what happens there is governed by their privacy policy, not ours. Only a search term goes out, meaning an equipment name or the names of items on your list. Never quantities, never which recipes they came from, never your plan, and never any identifier for you or your device.
How we choose which shop to link to
The App reads the region setting on your device, the same setting that decides how dates and currency are shown to you, and links to retailers that serve that part of the world. That setting is read on the device and is never sent to us or to anyone else. It is a preference you chose, not a measurement of where you are, and you can change it at any time under Profile › Where you are.
Sponsored recipes
A food brand may pay for a recipe in the App to carry its name. When that happens the recipe is marked "Sponsored" and the brand is named, before the ingredients. The recipe, its method and its timings are written by us and are not changed for a sponsor. Sponsorship does not involve sharing any information about you with the brand, and we report only how many people saw or tapped the placement in total.
Purchases
Recipe books and meal plans are sold through Google Play or the App Store. Payment is handled entirely by them under their own privacy policies, and we never see or store your card details. What we keep on your device is a note of which products you own, so the App knows what to unlock.
7. Photos
If you choose to set a photo on a recipe, the App asks for permission to open your photo library. The photo you pick is referenced from your recipe on the device only. The App does not upload your photos, and it does not read your photo library unless you actively choose a photo.
8. Third-party recipe sources
When you import a recipe from a link, your request reaches that website, and that website may record it in its own server logs the way it would for any visitor. Those sites are operated by other people under their own privacy policies, which we do not control. Each imported recipe keeps a link back to its original source so you can see where it came from.
9. How long anything is kept
Data on your device is kept until you delete it, either individually within the App, all at once using "Delete my data" in Profile, or by uninstalling the App.
Recipe content sent to our recipe service is processed to answer that one request and is not stored by us afterwards. Our service keeps short-lived operational logs, for example that an import happened and from which domain, to keep the service working, and a running count of how many recipes each anonymous install identifier has processed per month. Neither identifies you, and the counts are deleted once we have set that free allowance.
10. Your choices and rights
You can delete any recipe, plan entry, shopping item, or pantry entry at any time from within the App, and you can erase everything the App holds using "Delete my data" in Profile. Because we do not hold an account for you or store your content on our servers, deletion on the device is complete deletion.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or erase personal information held about you, or to object to its processing. Since the App keeps your information on your own device, you can exercise all of these directly. If you believe we hold something about you and want to ask about it, contact us using Section 13.
11. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will address it.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change how the App handles information, for example by introducing accounts or crash reporting, we will update this policy and change the effective date above before that change ships. Continuing to use the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
The version dated 8 August 2026 is a substantial change from the one before it. The App now shows advertising, carries affiliate links, may carry sponsored recipes, and sells optional recipe books and meal plans. Sections 5 and 6 are new, and Section 4 has been corrected. Nothing about what stays on your device (Section 2) has changed.
13. Contact us
Questions, requests, or complaints about privacy can be sent to Calivia Digital Solutions Ltd at caliviadigital@gmail.com, or by post to 50 Ile-Ogbo Street, Ifako Ijaiye, Lagos, Nigeria.
14. Language
This policy is provided in English. If it is translated and the versions conflict, the English version governs.
